Check mate........

It was another fabulous day today - bright, sunny, warm and friendly......and Friday!!

At school our academic captains organised a big chess tournament - the first one I can ever remember having here - and I confess to having been a little sceptical as to how well it would be supported.

Boy - was I wrong! The hall was absolutely humming at lunchtime with about 40 or 50 aspiring champions. Junior girls matched against senior boys, sporty types matched against linguists, techno types matched against arty types.

It was absolutley wonderful and something I really hope becomes a regular annual feature on the school calendar. Well done ND and your crew of organisers. A real winner!
