Saving the sky at night
Here is Jon Culshaw reciting a poem about Patrick Moore.
This week has been busy, following whisper that the BBC were planning to axe the "Sky at Night" after 56 years, a number of us got together to show our displeasure.
We made a facebook group, then a petition that people could sign, and cheered as it crept up to 100 people - then 500. Then it grew, and grew. We were soon into thousands, and a number of newspapers picked up the story, and it then appeared on Radio 4, Radio 2 and some local stations.
The petition is nearly at 35,000 people.
So - feel free to add your name too. http://change.org/SkyAtNight
Anyway - I had tickets to attend the Patrick Moore celebration night at Leicester Space Centre. The Sky at Night team were going to be there, so I quickly made some badges and met up with a couple of others who were involved. We had a great night, and in between other things had quiet chats with pretty much all the presenters about how things were going.
They were all great to speak to, and were very pleased with the support that is out there for the show.
