Water, water everywhere ...
A damp and soggy day but a very enjoyable and sunny blipmeet. CodladhSnámh and Burkey braved the grey and mizzle and travelled down from near Cork city, and Bat and CarolineL came in from nearer to home. TJ joined us for coffee. We decided to go ahead with a walk and set off into the hills, what we could see of them. The day was soft, the terrain boggy and everywhere you looked were mushrooms and toadstools and swathes of spiders' webs. We passed some interesting things : a holy well with very clear water, St Crochan's bed (very small, he slept with his feet outside apparently); standing stones complete with cup marks; three alpacas recently shorn, a fresh water lake complete with swans, a pebbly spit, and the bracken shrouded remains of a bardic school. Water was everywhere, oozing though the bog, making little waterfalls down the rocks and running clear and cool in little streams.
Himself, frustrated by the constant blipping, strode off home ahead of us and by the time we arrived, soggy kneed (all that fungus blipping) and wet footed, he had prepared a delicious lunch of warming soup. We also shared CodladhSnámh's birthday cake. Lovely to meet them both and hope their next visit might be sunnier!
