Most years we make noises about doing something for the Edinburgh Open Doors weekend, but this Sunday we actually managed to get our act together. We even turned up too early at Dean Gardens, but the lovely lady in charge was happy to let us in anyway. The kids had a great time, and since it was within walking distance to Stockbridge and Inverleith Park we all ended up staying outside for much of the day. Which meant they wolfed down their evening dinner, and crashed out in their beds without any resistance.

This portrait was taken just outside St Bernard's Well. He was taking some pictures of it with his camera and I liked the way the sunlight picked out his face.
