Solace Day 7: Grebes

This morning we came off the Erewash canal and onto the River Trent. Here the locks were huge and could have taken 6 boats the size of ours. Most of the working day they had a lock-keeper on duty to control the gates.

The Trent is so wide after being on a canal!

I chose these great crested grebes for my blip because they are a bird I just don't see at home and I've never photographed one until today. I think these may be this year's young.
