Fallen nest

Past its best!

Just spotted this nest that was lying upside down in a garden tub outside the kitchen window. I suspect it's been tossed out of the gutter below the house roof, probably by a bird digging for insects, as there's not much wind to speak of.

It's a small, shallow, grassy nest, lined with dark grey and white feathers. Not sure whose it was - bluetit's? robin's? blackbird's? (Please tell me if you have some idea.)

Had it been left in situ I think it might have been used again next year after a quick refurb' (or refeatherb'). As it is, it's only fit for demolition. And a blip!

(Two years ago today I notice I'd been swimming in the sea! How different from today's grey skies, fog and dampness!)
