The Lakenvelder
Seven to Seven 93
Already in the 12th century is in the form of a description, in the Netherlands mention made of Lakenvelders. The earliest image is a painting from about 1450. In the 17th and 18th century park herds, as Lakenvelders are also called, mainly held at the country houses of gentry and aristocracy. With the disappearance of these large estates in the 20th century, the Lakenvelder threatened with extinction, and not for the first time. At the bottom there were in the Netherlands about 300 Lakenvelder cattle. Currently there are again some 1,100 cattle in the colors 'Red White' and 'Black and white'.
