Digging Dog

Mimi forgot her violin today by the time I had walked back from the school there was a message on the phone asking if I could deliver it. I made a mug of tea and then wet off, ,y own house keys were in my bag so I scooped the spare keys of the hall table and off I went. My ipod blaring I walked back to the school enjoying the morning sun, fiddle delivered I ambled home, I unlocked the door but like a moment in a comedy as I went to push it open it didn't budge, the deadlock was on and I had no key for it on the spare ring.

Fortunately my car keys were still in my pocket so I set off for the river, the wind was cold but I was warmed by a call earlier from my friend. As I parked a small Bennington Terrier bounded up and greeted me like a long lost friend jumping and running in circles around me, it was lovely, I so miss my dogs! I had blipped this little bumble of fun in February in Bedlington Bounder. Her mortified owner came from behind her care apologising profusely but she is someone I was in school with 30 years ago. I asked if she was coming or going and as she was setting off on her walk we walked a little way together before our ways parted. The dofg was boundless running back and forward on the beach as we walked atop the sea wall, as she was beckoned to come to head off with her owner she decided it was time to dig, I shot this single frame

I loved the concentration on her little face, the excitement as she scrabbled at the sand there was nothing obvious to be seen but she seemed to be enjoying her excavation escapades. I hope you enjoy the shot and I hope she makes you smile like she made me smile this morning. I hope someday soon I will walk here with my friend again and maybe even shoot a portrait but I venture, sadly, I may be pushing my luck there. I think best viewed in large
