Melanitta fusca

Just a quick wander along the front and at the scrapes....plentiful gannets close inshore, curlew, peewits, a Slavonian grebe, the usual waders, but I was most glad to see large numbers of these velvet scoters. Not a duck that you can look at long without smiling :)

M continues to have a grotty cold, but insisted that I went out to Musselburgh, anyway; sometimes it's good to have a bit of privacy when one is sneezing and streaming. Poor girl :(
