Furry Moth Poseur
Hyles tithymali is a moth of the family Sphingidae. It is found in North Africa, the Canary Islands, Madeira, some islands in the Mediterranean Sea and in the mountains in Yemen. The length of the forewings is 45–85 mm.
I was chasing a couple of tiny birds about amongst the trees outside a church at a presa or reservoir in the Gran Canaria mountains but had to admit they were far quicker than me and my camera. Then I spotted this large and lovely moth, posing nicely on the marble tiles in front of the church.
Yet more driving and mapping for most of the day - having a non-working evening as there's live Champions League football on Spanish TV tonight _Porto v Atletico de Madrid).
