Kirkoswald Cumbria

Looking down the village. It boasts three pubs, well two, the Black Bull on the left is now a private residence but the sign is listed. Most of the village is cobbled, apart from the main road, which you can see. Two working pubs which are excellent,a friendly doctors, one shop, a village hall, a church and a methodist chapel oh and a cricket ground and children's playground. I would love to photograph 'KO' without cars but I can't see that ever happening. Kirkoswald means church of St Oswald. 'Kirk' is Nordic and Oswald was king of Northumbria who came over here in the seventh century with St Aidan (lads night out) took a drink from the local well and the locals were so impressed with them they promptly built a church in honour of them.

Worth a visit!
