Nutmeg Mannikin

A tropical Asian bird, the Nutmeg Mannikin is now so well-established in our area that it will be included in the yearly bird count.

It is know by several other names including Scaly-breasted or Spotted Munia and Spice Finch. The scientific name is Lonchura punctulata. It is an estrildid finch.
