Gettin' our kicks...*

So... due to the "shutdown" we took the decision to change our plans for today and took a trip along the last remaining section of the original Route 66. The wee Route 66 museum in Kingsman was interesting and the old couple who run it were so lovely.
We had intended to hike part of the South Kaibab trail in Grand Canyon but the park is closed. We sort of knew it would be but a small part of us had hoped that the Arizona state government would do what it did in '95 and pay to keep it open.

We feel so lucky that we were able to hike 15k of it yesterday and that it was the last National Park on our itinerary. So... now headed to Palm Springs and then back to the coast.

*no "roadkill" was eaten in the making of this photograph.
