Record breakers

Managed to escape the hotel today and see a bit of Dubai. I learnt that Dubai likes facts and figures especially when referring to the biggest and tallest and generally record breaking things. Never mind the world's tallest building (which looks better from afar that close up) the true wonder of Dubai is the world's largest acrylic panel!

After that the bus tour and boat trip in the older part of Dubai was a bit of a letdown. I mean what can compete with acrylic panels?! Did enjoy seeing some of the city but it definitely isn't a place is rush back to - it feels like it's missing something. A soul maybe. Back at the hotel went for a lovely refreshing swim in the outdoor pool watching all the lights twinkle as it went darker.

Fly home tomorrow - looking forward to it. Always feel a bit disconnected and surreal when I travel with work. Like life isn't quite real or something. Think I'm a homebody at heart.
