Level Crossing - I was.

Dentist trip today - My journey takes me via this level crossing (1 of 8000 in the UK) and every time I arrive at the crossing the barrier is down and invariably I am at the front of the queue. There has to be some law for this, “Sods” comes to mind.

Sod's Law - When a person attempts a task, he or she will be thwarted in that task by the unconscious intervention of some other presence (animate or inanimate)

Sod's Other Law - The degree of failure is in direct proportion to the effort expended and to the need for success.

Both laws seem to fit my case.
