Competition

The hummingbirds, yellow jackets, and wasps compete for the sugar water in these feeders. I boil four cups of water, take them off the heat, stir in one cup of sugar and let the solution cool. Then I fill the feeders and put the extra in the refrigerator for future feedings. Sometimes I just sit in the backyard and watch the hummers circle around. They are amazing little birds. Today's hummer is a male ruby-throated hummingbird.They are much more colorful than the females.

It has been a beautiful Sunday in Northeast Ohio. When our family from Arizona left, the hot humid weather left with them. We have enjoyed wonderful, moderate temperatures pretty much all summer...except for the week they were here. How ironic is that!
