Musical Reflections
Another full on day preparing for tomorrow night's Gala Performance to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Mackintosh Society.
We are nearly there, the Grand Piano arrived this morning and it was amazing watching the men bring it into the Church and then set it up. It looks stunning beside the Mackintosh Music Cabinet.
Just before I left this evening I liked the lighting on the piano and had the idea of this shot with Mackintosh reflecting in the lid of the Grand Piano. A musical homage to Mackintosh. An interesting connection relating to tomorrow's concert is that Modest Mussorgsky; the Russian composer was a member of "The Five" and in Glasgow about 30 years later we had a group known as ‘The Four’ comprising Charles Rennie Mackintosh, James Herbert McNair and the English sisters, Margaret Macdonald and Frances Macdonald.
I am pleased that the event is now sold out, so looking forward to Judith Ralston hosting the proceedings and listening to the fabulous talent on show.
Leading Scottish baritone Paul Keohone will be accompanied by Robert Sutherland - and recital pianist Elaine Gould will perform Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky, followed by a reception to mark the Society's achievements over four decades. And we are fortunate that the House for an Art Lover are providing the canapes for the evening.
I am sorry for falling behind in responding to your blips, but will try and catch up.
