Window on Life

I arrived in the city very early this morning, the rain had abated for a short time and I wandered aimlessly for a few blocks as it hung heavy in the air. I knew I needed a shot this morning, the forecast for the day was dreadful.

As I walked passed this sandwich shop and deli the lights flickered on, I liked the shapes the stools made on the counter tops and the acanthus on the lintel of the window silhouetted by the harsh white light from within.

I shot off a few frames as the heavens opened, I remember as a young boy being told when it rained it was the angels crying. I wondered what had made them so sad today, the rain returned so heavily it was bouncing off the pavement. The angel's don't cry rain of course, we mortals shed them, if we are happy, if we are sad, if we are hurt or if we just need that release. Some people view it as a weakness, a flaw or a failing, but well maybe I am the exception, sometimes the tears cannot be stemmed, nor should they be.

Today's shot is not what I had hoped, it is an emergency, the dark mornings and dark evenings make outdoor shots increasingly difficult but I will try as long as I can. I hope you can forgive the mundane today and hopefully tomorrow will be better
