The Screams Heard Round the Clinic

Just when I think I've got this whole motherhood thing figured out, my kids throw me a curveball and put me back on rookie status.
Today we took J for his 4yr appointment. He was excited to go see the doctor. He put on his tough Ninja Turtle undies and he talked about he was going to get a shot to "stay healthy." I should've known. We should've seen it coming.
When 1 shot turned to 4 very large scary needles, tough guy turned to freaked out kid. Let 's just say it took four grown people to hold him down. It was a big mess and an emotionally draining experience. It broke my heart and taught me a few new lessons too.
