NOT an Earth Star

Earlier today I saw a blip by lovenature of some fungi known as 'earth stars'.
This afternoon, I was out in the woods looking for a blip of my own and was immediately struck by how much these sweet-chestnut fruits reminded me of that blip.
Of the half dozen or so snaps that I took, I thought this was the most appealing.

So here you are then.
