Today was the first time my blip has come up and said "Excuse me..."

But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Day 1 of my week off started gently. A long lie... Cinnamon and raisin bagels for breakfast... A bus to the West End...

First stop was the Hidden Lane, where I saw a silly sign which made for a decent "colours and textures" shot. Then off to the Hidden Cafe for lunch of cullen skink, followed by coffee and a scrummy muffin.

It was almost mid afternoon by the time we waddled across to Kelvingrove Museum, where we sat in the sun for a while and I saw a pair of legs on a bench.

We then wandered into the Museum. I haven't been in there for a while and it all struck me as rather odd. I'm guessing that someone has applied a "bringing culture to the masses" incentive. I have no objection to inclusiveness (although I do wonder whether phrases such as "bringing culture to the masses" aren't perhaps just a little patronising...) but sometimes it produces odd results. Such as two football shirts next to an exhibit about monkeys, to illustrate the point that teamwork is a feature of both the human and the simian populations...

Then Imp found the "Under 5s" area, which was much more fun (and was populated entirely by over 20s). That's where I discovered an Impydog and a strange Impycreature. There were also some other weird animals which Imp may introduce to you later.

After that, it was time for a rest, so we headed out and sat in the sun outside the front entrance, people-watching. Soon, a pair of teenage girls came out, walked half way down the stairs, stopped and turned round to look at their shadows. Then one of them pulled out a camera and they started striking poses and taking photographs of each other.

All the while, I'm snapping away, trying to be inconspicuous with my big Nikon and big lens. After a while they stopped and I stopped. Imp and I were chatting away when we noticed that they were coming towards us.

"Excuse me", said one of them to Imp, holding out their camera, "would you mind taking a photograph of us and our shadows as we jump?"

Imp was, of course, more than happy to oblige - she's just out of frame to the left - and I had my blip :-) I'm only sorry that I didn't get to see the photo she took of them...

Blip in the bag, it was off to Mother India's Cafe for lots of delicious food. The rest of the evening will be spent motionless on the sofa :-)
