Shadows on The Shed
Went to the Shed at the National Theatre this evening to see Imelda Staunton and Jim Carter (Carson in Downton) reminiscing on their happy years together and particularly in various plays at the NT. They were a lovely, non-luvvy, pair who gave a fascinating insite into the backstage organisation as well as best play/worst costume/fantasy programme thoughts.
Then it was on to see the new musical by Tori Amos called The Light Princess. A modern take on a dark Victorian fairy tale. Now I like Tori but I am not too sure about the show. I really wanted to like it and it is a fantastic visual treat of a production. But I couldn't latch on to many tunes. Other people all around were wowed by it so it's probably me missing the point.
The Press night is next Wednesday so it will be interesting to see what the critics make of it. I hope I have got it wrong and it gets rave reviews.
