Bush crickets continued............
I went on a little tripette all on my own today back to Iping Common, my favourite place on earth during the autumn months.
The fence posts there were literally covered with basking lizards, and the grassland buzzing with different grasshoppers.
In the end though I decided to run with my origonal idea and bring you another of our beautiful native bush crickets...
...So today's blip is a female Bog Bush Cricket Metrioptera brachyptera.
Bog bush crickets are described as local, and are usually found on lowland heaths and in clearings damp heathy woodlands. They are 11-21 mm in length, green or brown with a bright green underside and have short wings (although there is a rare fully winged form, f. marginata).
Adults can be found from July to late Autumn.
I chose this shot because you can see the beautiful green edged wings.....
I think she is stunning I hope you do too!
