Sir Nigel Gresley

When we first moved to Pickering and people told us that Sir Nigel Gresley was coming to town we thought they meant a local dignitary. Oh no, Sir Nigel is a steam train and a very impressive one too. It a steam spectacular at the North York Moors Railway this weekend. As well as Sir Nigel, Tornado is kicking about too. He is an A4 class and was built on 30 October 1937 by the designer Sir Nigel Gresley. There is also a blue plaque on a wall at Kings Cross now showing when Sir Nigel Gresley (the man not the train) had an office there. At the same time as hosting the steam weekend, the station is also getting ready for War Weekend which kicks off on Friday.
