Looking like a battered leaf, a late comma feeds on the ivy flowers which are just beginning to open. It wasn't on it's own - as we walked past the bush on the way to the car, hundreds of hoverflies and various sizes of blue and green-bottles swarmed up. The bush is in a position in which it is bathed in sunshine, so when the flowers open, every insect for miles descends on it.
This morning, I had a coffee with some ex-teachers who I taught with about twenty five years ago. They meet regularly on a Saturday morning, but this is the first chance I've had to get there. Lovely catching up with people - and nice that they remembered me and were so pleased to see me.
The afternoon was spent digging brambles out of the mother-in-law's garden, while my wife helped her with putting up some curtains. Then it was off to a tea-room for a cup of tea and a toasted teacake, followed by picking up our daughter from work and going home for tea.
After tea, 'Strictly Come Dancing' appeared on the television. Fortunately, the washing maching filter had got clogged up, so I had to spend about three quarters of an hour on my knees draining the water from the machine before washing the filter and replacing it. Sadly, I missed most of the programme. Hope those of you addicted enjoyed it!
