Arcadia Piper

Picture this. I just played 36-holes of tough golf and I am relaxing with friends on the patio at Arcadia Bluffs Lodge.

I am sitting in an Adirondacks chair with a glass of Pinot enjoying the warm sunlight and the pastel hues of dusk. In the distance is this piper playing a hauntingly beautiful rendition of “Amazing Grace.” I am just too damned tired to get up.

But I must.

Roddy MacNeil is on a Scottish Arts Scholarship at Alma College filling in for his dad, Stephen MacNeil. who has been playing for 35-years. Stephen is one of only three professional class “pipers” in Michigan. A son, a dad, a grandfather and great-grandfather - all pipers.
