Orford Ness
A really early start this morning (out of the house at 5.30) to head over to Orford Ness on the Suffolk coast with a friend.
It's a really interesting place; a shingle spit that's been around for thousands of years, but in the last century has been used by the military for research. Don't stray off the paths! It's a bizarre combination of being quiet and remote, yet having huge reminders of man's presence there. Some of the areas are quite eerie too.
I had hoped to get photos of the iconic pagodas (as in the picture), but they're in an area where you need to get special access. Sounds like a plan for next year. This shot was from across the river with a 400mm lens, but I'd like to be closer.
If you get the chance, definitely worth a visit.
