House with a Past

Ditsworthy Warren House, Dartmoor. In 2010 Ditsworthy Warren House was used as a film location for the Steven Spielberg film, War Horse - from the book by Michael Morpurgo. It served as the Narracott family's home and was dressed for the film, with mimic thatched roof and window shutters added. The set was dismantled after filming and the site restored.

The house and its outbuildings are probably early 19th century, and the farmstead was dedicated to rabbit farming. Rabbits were commercially kept for their meat and fur.

Did a 10 mile walk today from Sheepstor. A marvellous walk on a marvellous sunny October day.
