The Bundy Time Clock, Walsall

We visited my niece in Walsall today. She started her career as a vet a few weeks ago and wanted to show us her new flat and the surrounding area. She lives close to Walsall Arboretum. This is a beautiful large park, with a couple of lakes, play area and some stunning trees. There is a small area with this clock and a sculpture. Unfortunately there is no information about either piece but I've found out some information about the clock.

The Bundy Time Clock.

This Bundy clock was in regular use providing a reliable method of time recording for the Birmingham Bus and Tram system.

A paper tape transport with recording printer sits in the centre box. The time clock itself, can be seen at the top of the stack. A transfer drive spindle synchronises the two units.

The driver would place a key coded to his duty, in a slot in the centre box and turn it. The print mechanism then printed his key number and the arrival time on the paper tape.
