Backroads to the Ocean

After a very long day of making connections at airports, we got our rental car and started the 4 hour drive to the coast....but being who we are, we couldn't take the fast or normal way....no, we had to take the mountain trails that were one lane wide!!

What an adventure! This is a view of Lake Sonoma, still 2 and a half hours from our destination. Good thing Al has cat-like reflexes and also a good thing we met very few cars!!

Our bed and breakfast was absolute perfection...the view was beyond beautiful, and the company exceptional. After dinner at a local Thai restaurant we spent half the night catching up with David and Leslie...dear family that we had not seen in more than 20 years. We sat and talked in a glass-enclosed room overlooking the ocean with a huge fireplace in the middle to keep us cozy....a superb beginning for our vacation!!
