Beachcombing blues...

A surprise temperature of 19c saw us both down on the beach this lovely lunchtime. Unbelievably summer like and a gorgeous way to walk 3 miles and search for sea glass.

Found this layered blue piece, the biggest non-white find in a long time. Gorgeous. The layers are caused by different coloured glass being poured from a ladle into a mould. When the mould or the ladle became badly contaminated with hardened glass it would be hammered off and tipped away - in 18c County Durham that meant into the sea.
