Passing on the skills
This picture is of our gardener Mr A who has featured in my journal before. He spent over three hours this morning preparing our garden for the winter. Here he is trimming the cherry apple tree. He is a wonderful gardener - he knows all about plants and birds; he has some beautiful tools - both manual and electrical. I do worry that when he retires (he is already over 65) - he wouldn't have had the chance to pass on his skills and knowledge to anybody else. He has a daughter who is married and quite busy in her own family life.
Blipfoto is helping to capture the social history - as discussed in this blog post: " One picture at a time, Blipfoto is assembling a collective record of human history, which the British Library recognises will form an essential resource for social historians in the future."
I wonder how we can capture the skills and knowledge of people such as Mr A - particularly when he does not use the internet and social media?
