Tired!
Backblipped 7th October
Very grey, misty day but no rain! So headed off to Newlyn for some more fresh fish and a walk back along Penzance Promenade and a wee play on the beach (though the mist was so bad you could hardly see St Michaels Mount!) and the Jubilee Pool . It's shut now but what an amazing outdoor sea swimming pool! Plus pasty from Warrens - the oldest pasty making company in Cornwall apparently!
Then up to Polgoon vineyard for a tour and tasting. Really interesting and Jeremy who took us round was ace. Really knowledgeable and engaging - he's originally from New Zealand and when we asked what brought him all the way to Cornwall he said "a Welsh girl"! They were having to harvest a bit earlier than they would have liked - the mist and humidity that we've had so far on the holiday has actually been around for a couple of weeks and is beginning to affect the grapes. They thought they were going to have a bumper crop after the amazing summer but they will lose some - though not as much as last year when they lost 85% of the crop with all the rain! And of course a very tasty tasting too. And it would have been rude not to buy any also ;-)
Then off to Hardy Exotics Nursery - a sprawling nursery full of amazing looking plants! And again it would have been rude not to make a couple of purchases there too!
Chucked it down with rain on the way back but it had gone by the time we had our evening swim - phew!
Dinner was salt and pepper squid followed by steak. James is spoiling me with his cooking for sure this holiday!
Scrabble update:
3:2 to me!
Pasty score:
James 9 (tasty)
Jenny 7 (hot but nothing special!)
