Jemez Tunnels

Today, I decided to take Rachael to see the Jemez National Monument...a beautiful historic mission in the Jemez Mountains. After an hour and a half drive, we arrived to find they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. ARGH!

Fortunately for me, these tunnels, officially named the Gillman Tunnels, carved through solid stone on route 485, were just down the road and up in the mountains a bit. As far as I'm concerned, it was a great consolation prize.
