In the Land of the Lifeless Giants

Marching up the Forth Valley are these steel giants. As long as I can remember there has never been a great deal said about these ones in particular, but in recent times pylons have become a real bone of contention. In particular, the Highland to Stirling Super Pylons have gained a lot of attention. As far as I am aware all the electricity is generated by wave and wind power in the North of Scotland and is to be transmitted south.
Furthermore, the Western Isles has had a protracted feasibilty study and public consultation on a large scale wind farm, which I believe, has been rejected and a smaller scale is now in develoment.
As I see it, The Western Isles provides a great model for the future of renewable resources in Scotland, as the aesthetic and environmental impact is on the local community then the electricity generated there should be shared by the locals, this reduces the amount of raw materials consumed, large cables and pylons from the island to the mainland and then across Scotland, would be reduced. This should provide cheaper electricity and it should be, that those who have to share the burden can share the benefits.
In addition, the beauty of Scotland will be maintained and hopefully, our views (and photos) of the lochs and glens across our country will not be obscured by these Lifeless Giants.
