THERE SHE GOES!

A familiar loud blast from the ship's hooter alerts me to the fact that something is happening in the harbour. I hotfoot it upstairs, grabbing my camera en route and looking out of the window I see that one of the frigates is being towed out by three tugs. Not wanting to include the window in the photo, I hop onto the bed. Realizing that I am going to lose the best angle if I do not hurry up, I rest the camera on the window frame, elbow up against the wall for stability and click away. As I expected, the first shot is the most interesting.
This afternoon while having tea we watch as in a cloud of smoke and with much hooting, first an old minesweeper, then two coastal patrol boats leave the harbour on their own steam. Men in orange jackets line the decks. Obviously there will be exercises at sea to night.
