Bonkers for conkers

One of the first signs that autumn has well and truly arrived. Popped over the field with my son today to get a bag full of conkers to scatter them round the house and drive out the spiders. For a child who has always played with most insects it seems strange that he is so freaked out by spiders.

I love the way they are so dark and glossy against the fallen leaves.
