Goosey Fair Tavistock
This annual fair dates back to the twelfth century when farmers would bring their geese to sell and drove them through the streets to the market.
These days a there are only a hundred or so geese for sale in the cattle market and these two took my eye. Obviously best friends and separated by the metal side of the cage. All the time I was in the market they just stood there motionless touching beaks. I just hope that they were both auctioned to the same person so they could spend their remaining days together!
Elsewhere in the town the main streets are closed. There are thousands of visitors, a fun fair and hundreds of market stalls - where you might just find a bargain (but probably not!). I can only show you one photo and this is it.
