Salmon parr

Just back from two fantastic days in Wester Ross. We took students to see Rassal ashwoods, the Sheildaig fish monitoring station and to see a demonstration of electrofishing at the River Carran. These salmon are just showing the distinctive parr mottling. Though caught in the river, two of them had recently been released from hatchery.The experts can tell this from gill, fin and tail morphology. Absolutely fascinating. It rained all day but I loved it.
