Birthday!

Today was my Mum's birthday so I did everything I could to spoil her rotten! I feel a real responsibility to try to ensure she has the best day possible; I get overwhelmed thinking how well she has coped with losing my Dad and how strong she is.. I think she's pretty amazing.

We had a bagel breakfast whilst she opened her presents and mountain of cards. We then went to Marks Hall for a lovely Autumnal walk around the gardens. The rain held off and the sun was out as we spent nearly two hours wandering around. I then took her for a super-fancy afternoon tea at The Swan in Lavenham. The highlight was undoubtedly the meringue swans, they were so indulgent! The other cakes were actually a bit too big (I know!); we couldn't eat it all and took some home with us. It was so cosy in the hotel- we were sat in big armchairs next to the lit log fire.. it took a lot to not fall asleep after all the sugar and tea! When we got home, we had a long sit before G came over and we made a lovely, but probably not-needed, dinner. It was all rounded off with the birthday muffins that I made yesterday, which we somehow managed to squeeze in.

It was a really lovely day with Mum, but at the same time I heard some incredibly sad news in the morning. Last night one of my close friends, and fellow blipper, lost her Dad after his long battle with cancer. Our thoughts remained with them throughout the day; it's so sad knowing exactly what they are now going through xx
