Down in the woods

Today I went for a walk in a part of what was the Kings Wood.It was the hunting forest of Saxon and Norman kings for many years. Eventually in the 19th and 20th centuries coal was discovered which was mined in open cast sites ,hence all the holes, caves and potholes to be found in the remaining woodland!
I live in an area of Bristol called 'Kingswood'.Hence the previous story.
The woodland which is left is mainly Ash and Oak a lot of which are quite ancient and protected.
A wonderful place to walk and relax. It ambles it's way eventually, down to the banks of the River Avon between Bath and Bristol.
