Grey day

Pittenweem harbour with what remains of the dwindling fishing fleet. These are prawn boats and they go out, sometimes for a few days but mostly, in the summer season when the prawns are close to shore go and return with the tide, and come back with hopefully buckets of langoustine aka Norwegian lobsters or scampi. A lot of them are sent abroad, the rest turned into scampi (ruined!). The smart fish shop in St Andrews prefers to sell Thai tiger prawns because no one buys langoustine. Well if he doesn't have them no one could buy them. Time for a celebrity chef to sing their praises.
It makes it tricky to source them and occasionally one resorts to swapping a bottle of drams with the skipper of a boat for a bucket of prawns.
Once the winter comes the boats head west where the water is warmer and the prawns stay closer to the shore.
Whatever, it is a tuff life for the fishermen.
