For a Good Cause

A group of us went to a fundraiser tonight for a very good cause. These ladies were the wonderful entertainers for our music and showtime events. They are well know d.q.'s from our area that helped us out with some rollicking good fun and parody! The Central Banquet Hall, an old time local hotel, restored by local, Steve Parisian, was the location, and it was a great place to hold and event. The Manatee Animal Services fund is a collection of money raised to save shelter animals who are sick and need medical care, so they don't have to be put down. This was an event, a spaghetti dinner with "no balls" tonight. It was for a very good cause-over 160 animals who otherwise would have been put down last year due to health reasons were saved last year by this fund, and hopefully many more this coming fiscal year will be spared. So the dinner was spaghetti with sauce and if you wanted meatballs it was extra. They also fund animal spaying and neutering, so that was the no balls part of the slogan. Manatee County citizens asked and the county responded in working to create a NO KILL shelter and we are well on our way to making that a reality in our county. Bravo. I have a rescue dog, Chicky, and suppport the adopt a shelter animal as a way to keep from having to kill unwanted animals. May they all get fur-ever homes.
