Got it!
All was quiet at the lake this afternoon when I went out to try and get a photo for today's blip. Until ... a family arrived to throw bread to the ducks and geese and then the gulls got involved.
There were no actual mid air collisions, but some pretty close calls as they swooped to try and be first to get the bread. There was certainly no sense of waiting their turn, but more a case of "who dares wins". Certainly there was the odd mallard who thought it was going to get a piece of bread that was only inches away only to find that they (bread and duck) were suddenly sharing the space with 3 gulls too as they descended almost out of control.
This particular gull must have timed it just right as no others appeared in my shot. It reminds me of kids round a sweet jar, or shoppers on day one of the sales pouring over the bargains. Or perhaps its more like crowds trying to get the best view as a celebrity passes by. Or even perhaps, dare I say it, the mad dash to get in with a bid for Royal Mail shares which were highly oversubscribed.
Why is it we feel a need to make sure we get what we need want at the expense of others?
