Alex Cornish...

Alex has been supporting Kathryn Williams on her tour so as they were playing at The Caves in Edinburgh on Friday, Emma and I went along to show our support on the guest list obviously... it's not what you know.... I see Alex at work and I think because it's from one extreme to the next, I forgot just how talented he is. Not only does he have a great voice, he plays a range of instruments and not just a bit of tinkering on the piano, he's really good. So good that Kathryn asked him to stand in and play piano on her set and he did just that. Without much practice, to be able to just do that is really quite impressive. On top of all his talents, he's a thoroughly nice bloke and I'm glad he's my friend.

Kathryn was great too. I'd not heard of her until recently but she has a lovely voice and a big heart. One of her fans who has followed her for years asked if she could sing one of her songs with her. She was great, had a lovely voice but she's suffering from cancer and I'm not sure there was a dry eye in the house.

All of the photos I took of Alex were a bit shit, I think there's something wrong with my monster lens, not to mention it's quite hard to get a photo of someone while they're singing that doesn't make them look slightly pained like they're doing a jobby so this is the sharpest/most flattering/best lit photo I took!
