Waterfoot Sunrise

Reflecting Pool

The weather here in Carradale has been lovely the last few days, although sunrises have been a big disappointment. The clouds have just been in the wrong place and too thick for the sun to work its morning magic.

Still no vivid colours this morning but hints of oranges and pinks made venturing out to the river worthwhile. The tide was in and, with some shelter from the northerly wind, the estuary calm enough to reflect the lovely clouds that filled the sky and moved briskly on the wind. On checking back on previous Octobers I can see it has been quite a good month for sunrises, which has probably been as much to do with their more civilised hour than the weather. Another week or so and the sun will rise in line with this angle on the mouth of the river and provide even more options for reflections.

Was tempted to go with this shot of the boats as I liked the double reflection of the sun on the house windows, however this one got my vote.

The view may be similar to previous blips but colours and water movement are always different. That's what I like about this unique moment in the day. While one grey wet day is usually very similar to another grey wet day, no 2 sunrises are ever the same!
