SREEPUR VILLAGE CHARITY DINNER
Our local Member of Parliament, Jim Fitzpatrick and his wife Dr Sheila Fitzpatrick hosted a charity evening at the Houses of Parliament, to raise funds for Sreepur
Village, a small organisation which runs a women's and children's village in the Bangladesh countrysdie.
Founded by BA air stewardess Pat Kerr in 1989, the village has played a vital role in providing sanctuary and support for over 500 babies, and children and over 140 destitute women, with the aim of them being able to look forward to an independent life back in their communities.
Pat Kerr spoke about the latest facility designed to provide a space for children, playing by the railway, to drop in and use as a space of entertainment and safety. Pat also thanked people for their continuing support.
A cricket bat singed by the England Ashes team, was auctioned by Jim at the end of the evening, (good tactics there) and it raised over £1000.
