This afternoon was a photogrphy fieldtrip organised by moi for the American Women's Club.

Zeche Zollverein is a UNESCO World Heritage Site but is basically the site of a rather large and very old coal mine. We were shown around by a Herr Niggermeyer who told us some of the background to the mine while at the same time pointing out areas of photographic interest.

We were a mixed group photographically, ranging from not taking any photos through to phone pics through a guy with a tripod who was taking multiple images with different settings so that he could then fiddle about with them on the computer...

Glück auf is what miners used to say to each other as they passed on the way down into the mines, wishing them a healthy return back up top.
