Harvard Aircraft

We went to Duxford Airshow today.

These are Harvards.

The Harvard is an American design and dates to 1935. Many are still flying today. It was used as a training aircraft for the second world war and was the bridge between the primary Tiger Moth and the high performance fighters such as the Spitfire and the Hurricane.

Mr H dictated the above paragraph - he is very knowledgeable when it comes to aeroplanes.

I enjoyed our visit to Duxford, especially boarding Concorde and many other old passenger aircraft. Of particular interest was the BOAC Comet, the first trans-atlantic passenger jet. Its maiden flight was in April 1958. The initial design included square windows which caused metal fatigue, resulting in two fatal crashes. Nothing was known about metal fatigue in those days.
