Cushion Cover in the Making
I have been loving a bit of English Paper Piecing alongside my doll-making recently. I've used lots of bits and pieces of blue and brown on this and half-way through I decided to make it into a cushion cover.
I learnt how to do this at school. A skill for life, it turns out.
Went to my parents in law today, saw one of my nieces, and my two sisters in law. It was lovely - I wish I saw them more. They live very near but life is just so busy.
This morning Chris ran the Kingston Breakfast Run. He's done it lots of times (so have I, actually) so the children and I pretended this time we weren't going to watch, but went on the bus to surprise him. We waited in the rain right by the finish. He ran towards us, then straight past. We screamed and waved and jumped up and down but he was caning it (five minutes ahead of his target time) and he didn't look anywhere but straight ahead. He belted off and of course didn't wait for us because he didn't know we were there. We got the bus home, and actually got back before him.
We were not impressed with him but thawed eventually - literally and metaphorically. He came 36th out of a field of 700 and was fourth in his age category - absolutely brilliant. No wonder he didn't have time to stop and wave.
